GUWAHATI: City schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (
CBSE) on Monday celebrated the success of their students after the class 12 results were declared.
Since the results are available online, not many students turned up in schools. Even then, as soon as the results were declared, the teachers and other students of the schools cried in joy and shouted "hip hip hurray".
The students of Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Silpukhuri, burst crackers on their school premises and greeted each other with sweets.
As most of the students were absent, the authorities of Don Bosco School are planning to organize a grand feast later on. In Don Bosco, everyone seemed to have a reason to celebrate as the school has 100 per cent pass percentage. Principal Antony Thekkel said, "Of 226 students from science, humanities and commerce streams, 67 secured above 90 per cent. We are very happy with our results."
Hamnaga Gogoi, a student from Don Bosco who secured 91.2 per cent from the humanities stream, wants to pursue his higher studies outside the state. "I will go to either Kolkata or Meghalaya because the quality of education in the state is very poor," he added.
The Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khanapara, Doley Das, said, "I am very happy with the results because there is a shortage of teachers in our school even then the students have done exceptionally well. Altogether 181 students appeared from all the three streams and the pass percentage is 97.23."
Maharishi Vidya Mandir School, Silpukhuri, situated in the heart of the city, too had a 100 per cent pass percentage this year. "A total of 73 students appeared from the science stream, 27 from commerce and 22 from humanities," said the principal of the school, Monika Goswami.
Barbee Baruah of Maharishi Vidya Mandir secured 74 per cent from the science stream despite being differently-abled. "I am proud of my daughter because even if she has hearing problems, she secured a very good percentage," said her mother.
Andrick Deb Adhikari of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khanapara, the topper from the science stream, wants to become an engineer.
Sarla Birla School, Amingaon, has shown exceptionally good resultd with 100 per cent pass per centage. The principal of the school, Anubha Goel, said, "We are very happy with our results. A total of 40 students secured 90 per cent and above. The highest percentage from commerce is 97, humainities (96) and science (94.2)."
